CREW Pittsburgh has
been committed to supporting women with cancer in the Greater Pittsburgh
area as its charity since the organization initiated its New You Program
in 2003. CREW members and friends meet at quarterly sewing circles
to select, cut and sew coordinating pieces of fabric, cording, trim and
buttons, donated by fabric manufacturers. They create unique
shoulder-bag satchels, which are referred to as "Satchels of
Caring." When the Satchel is completely sewn, we fill it with the
following items: a soft turban, a pattern for sewing a turban; a
handmade scarf and instructions for tying a scarf; support literature
and prescription drug assistance brochure; hand and body cream donated
by Neutrogena; inspirational literature and a bookmark; a harp music
compact disc and a journal.
These efforts have been made possible by our members, friends, and
sponsors,
as well as our Helping Hands Organizations, who have enabled the
foundation to expand its distribution of the Satchels of Caring,
reaching more women with cancer. We need your help to continue to expand
our efforts.
