“Don’t just stand for the success of other women – insist on it.” – Gail Blanke, President and CEO, Lifedesigns
If you focus on the success of other CREW members, success will find you. I’ve had the honor to meet with many of our members over the past 5 months and found that we all have unique skills that make us stand out among our peers. I encourage to all to take the time to get to know your fellow members and see what synergies there are. It begins with a single connection, a spark, something that identifies you from the others in your field. We are nearing the 100 member mark, how many members do you know? I challenge you all to meet 5 members in the next few months.
As a woman in the commercial real estate industry in Pittsburgh, PA, I wear two hats on a daily basis. At CBRE, Inc. — the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm — I, along with my team, represent landlords and meet with current and new office tenants in Downtown and the surrounding area. At CREW Pittsburgh, in my prior role serving as Events Chair and my current role as President, I can tell you first-hand that the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) is essential in my day-to-day business and is an asset to the commercial real estate community in Pittsburgh. When advising a firm new to the Pittsburgh area, I not only assist with the leasing of their office space but also educate them on what Pittsburgh has to offer. From dining to residential living to entertainment to lease and sales deals, the PDP’s website (DowntownPittsburgh.com) is my first stop for market knowledge and research. The PDP’s State of Downtown Pittsburgh report provides a snapshot of Downtown’s economic landscape and allows stakeholders to see how Downtown Pittsburgh’s economy has evolved. It is a fact-driven report derived from the PDP’s research efforts along with assistance from key partners, providing timely, objective and accurate data about Downtown Pittsburgh. The report also promotes the current development efforts underway, the transformation that is planned in and around the Golden Triangle and highlights unique Downtowncentric indicators. Each year, the PDP provides a copy of the State of Downtown Pittsburgh report to the attendees of CREW Pittsburgh’s Property Tour. The PDP has been a key partner in the planning and success of this annual Property Tour. Their knowledge of new transactions, property ownership and planned projects is indispensable not only to making the Property Tour a success but to our 100+ chapter members who are always looking for Pittsburgh market information.
At CREW Pittsburgh, we look forward to growing our relationship with the PDP. The PDP has had a major impact on the environment in Downtown Pittsburgh and one of many advocates for the continued success of our city. Are you taking full advantage of what the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership has to offer?
