Buenos Dias Senoras!
Carleen, Claudia, Mimi, Sarah and I have returned from the Miami Convention fully energized and looking to focus on “the Rewards of Risk!” – What can we do on a daily basis to force ourselves to make bold choices and gain big returns? We had the opportunity to hear from some inspirational people at this year’s CREW Convention. Katty Kay reminded us that we as women do not take enough risks; we never think that we are good enough (even though we are always more than qualified) – we think we do not have the confidence as others do, but WE DO AND CAN! Hillary Rodham Clinton discussed the empowerment of women and the progress of women in the workplace. She offered the following advice:
"One is do the very best you can at everything you do... but learn from your mistake and your failures."
"Second, be kind. Try to find a time for kindness every single day."
"Find something you are passionate about, that you love to do, And again, pursue it. It can be anything, it can be sports, it can be the arts, it can be service. Find something that you really feel invested in."
As 2014 comes to an end, I encourage you all to take risks, move beyond your comfort level and see where it takes you. What is the worst that happens? Perhaps you fail and you learn from your mistakes and you move on or perhaps you perservere and propel yourself into the next level of your career. If you spend too much time examining on whether or not you should take a risk you are wasting your valueable time and efforts that you could better utilized on things that can forward your career.
2014 has been a life changing year for me. I left a company that I was with for 6 years to take on 3 different opportunities at the same time. Yes, it’s been chaotic at times, but my risk was worth the reward and I look forward to sharing my story with all of you.
Be bold. Be fearlessly authentic and take risks.
