Quarter 1 President’s Message

2016 is setting up to be an exciting year for CREW Pittsburgh.  The year kicked off with our annual Holiday Party held at the Fairmont Hotel which gave us an opportunity to reflect on the past year and celebrate our successes.  A special thank you to Cindy Nielsen and the Events committee for planning such a wonderful event at a venue that provided the opportunity to catch up with old business colleagues and meet new ones.  Over the past few months, the 2016 Board has been working hard planning for our year ahead.  I’m excited to see our chapter continue to grow and reach new goals.

Now is the time to join a committee.  CREW committees offer a wide variety of areas to participate in and are actively looking for new committee members to join their teams.  Some of the most successful CREW Connections are created through committee work.  Please visit our website to learn more or contact Jessica Jarosz (jjarosz@century-equities.com) who can help pair your skills with our committee needs.

The planning for our networking events and lunch programs is moving along.   This year we are changing up the golf outing.  Instead of the traditional 18-hole golf outing, we are planning a “Nine & Wine” golf event which will consist of an afternoon of golfing 9 holes followed by a wine tasting.  Sounds exciting!

CREW Pittsburgh also wants to reinstate the Property Tour.  We will need your help to make this a successful event and will be looking to our membership to provide us with leads for potential tour participants.  Please reach out to Cindy Nielsen (cnielsen@continentaloffice.com) if you have contact names of potential participants or want to participate in the planning.  Now is the time to reinstate this as one of our signature events.

Another exciting networking opportunity this year is the CREW Network Convention being held in New York City between October 19th and 22nd .  The convention has not been this close to Pittsburgh in many years. Therefore, CREW Pittsburgh will be coordinating some form of ground transportation to the convention.  More details will follow.  If you are interested in attending the convention or wish to be part of the planning committee, please contact Alicia Smith at admin@crewpittsburgh.org.

CREW Pittsburgh is also planning on revisiting our Strategic Plan which was last developed in 2009.  I will be reaching out to our past Presidents inviting them to participate in the strategic plan.

In 2016, we are scheduled for a visit from our CREW Network Liaison visit, Tara Piurko, Director at CREW Network from CREW Toronto, who will be visiting Pittsburgh to speak to our membership at a yet-to-be determined lunch program. 

This year, we have partnered with BOMA to advertise two of their PA Real Estate License CEU programs to our members.  The first was held on February 18, 2016 with the second scheduled for April 7th

CREW Pittsburgh is ready to move to the next level in our Social Media and we are beginning a campaign to enhance our Social Media.  Karen Kukish (kkukish@talltimbergroup.com) and the Communications Committee will be developing the platform and parameters to create and maintain the Social Media.  If you are astute in Social Media, please share your knowledge and experience and help CREW Pittsburgh enhance its Social Media presence.
